The whole idea behind Portable Compact Mini Washing Machines is that they are of small size and lightweight. So you can move them easily around and place them wherever you want. And these new models do their job amazingly well using even less water than any hand washing would do.
The capacity of these portable washing machines is usually between 5 and 9 lbs. That means the load of clothing will be quite small. You find mini washers as electric washing machines or hand-cranked. The best non-electric portable washing machine available is the Compact Mini Washing Machine by The Laundry Alternative. This is kind of a dream model for every RVer, camper or houseboater (I think I just invented this word…).
How do you use a Portable Compact Mini Washing Machine?
It’s quite simple. You hook the machine’s hose up to your kitchen faucet and fill it with the right amount of water. Then add detergent (liquid works the best, and it only needs a small amount of detergent). And now you add your clothes. You shut the lid, plug the unit into an electrical outlet, if it’s an electric model, and turn it on.
Why would you choose a Portable Compact Mini Washing Machine?
Well, you might live in an apartment complex with a communal laundry room where the washing machines are always taken when you want to do your laundry.
And I don’t think I know one single person who likes to go to the Laundromat – except maybe Maggie O’Connell from the Show “Northern Exposure”. If you know the show, you know what I mean. To the contrary most certainly you too belong to those people who definitely don’t like to go to a Laundromat. Indeed, count me in into this club.
If you’re living in a RV, a houseboat or tiny house where there is simply not enough space for a full washer/dryer combo and you don’t want to wash your laundry by hand – you might be interested to look into portable compact mini washers.
There is a big variety of portable compact mini washing machines out there. Besides being practical some have a really nice design. Usually I’m not the pink kinda lady, but seeing this one pink model in the following list I must admit, it brings such a bright color and mood in the room, alone that makes it worth getting it. So, if you wish to give your RV or small apartment that special color touch, this could be the perfect washing machine for you.
The instructions for the different models of portable washing machines can vary. So make sure that you read the instruction manual before you operate your new model for the first time.

The washer is the perfect size to sit on a counter top. I put mine on my kitchen counter next to the sink when I need to do the laundry. The washer is actually fairly lightweight and comes with an easy carry handle, so moving it is not difficult.
This washer does not spin clothes, the tank drains the old fashioned way, good old gravity. This is really nice if you don’t like mangled clothes. It is an extra little washer. It holds quite a little bit of laundry.
It really swishes and turns robustly. I use it when RVing. I think it would be great for an apartment too. Not so keen on hand ringing but this little Panda makes up for it on how well it cleans. Otherwise it can handle a small load very effectively.

I think of my Wonderwash as a hand crank front loader. The key to the Wonderwash is to not over load it. I believe, that my cloths come out cleaner.
The clothes are after washing very wet. That is why I bought a mini-dryer as well, our family cleans delicates and daily wash when we don’t have a full load in these units.
It does crank easily and my arm isn’t sore afterwards. It is well balanced. You turn it at one revolution per second, so it’s a slow turn. I am 75 years old.

I live in a small apartment and space will always be an issue. I decided the get this one and so far I don’t regret my decision. The machine works amazingly well, believe me! And it’s really easy to operate.
This washer sounds similar to a running dishwasher in a home kitchen. It’s not that loud at all.
It does have a drain hose. Also it has another hose to plug-in on the sink faucet and on the top of the machine to fill it either with hot, warm or cold water.

I wanted one of these to take with us when we become full time RVers, something compact, light weight, and easy to use and this is certainly all of the above.
This washer is great! I usually do one load of my clothing daily and every other day do my toddler’s laundry.
I’ve never seen my diapers so clean, it’s amazing. I even washed other clothing items and again- amazing – better then a regular washer.
