The color of the year 2018 chosen by Pantone will be Ultra Violet. I was looking around to find some violet accessories you can add to your small home, your RV, small apartment, houseboat or tiny house that brings this 2018 color ultra violet into your home.
I did find some ideas and I will explain what the effects of the color ultra violet are on us and on the style of our homes.
Pantone describes ultra violet – a blue-based violet – with these words: It is a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade that communicates originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us toward the future. Wow!
Well, I looked it up and there is actually a difference between purple and violet. While violet is a real color with its own position in the spectrum of light, purple is simply a mix of red and blue.
Violet has an interesting effect on us. It allegedly helps with overcoming negative pyschological conditions. Having violet around us has a strong calming effect. Historically violet was the color of the rich. It displayed and still displays luxury, elegance and diversity. Interior designers tell that violet brings wisdom, influence, power and inspiration into our homes.
With these details about violet I would confidently recommend to add violet in form of a mandala tapestry or a similar accessory. Too much violet would have an opposite effect on your home and yourself.
If you like to add colors by painting your walls, using violet definitely just paint a part of the wall you want to see in violet – even more so when you choose the darker version ultra violet. With a lighter shade of violet a whole wall might come out quite elegant. In this case you want to add some white or wooden furniture or plants with a strong green.
The kitchen might be the only room that’s not taking violet in a positive way. The bathroom on the other hand is just made for violet of all shades. Also of course living room and bedroom may take violet elements. You will create a luxurious and elegant look for those rooms.
If you like to combine colors in your home. These are the recommended colors that go well with violet: light blue and light pink, red, soft yellow and even orange and of course brown and white. White and violet combined create that aristocratic look that so many like.
I love violet, but I definitely would just add one element in this color to our small home such as a mandala tapestry or a chair slipover. These kinds of accessories are great in order to celebrate the color of the year 2018 and then you replace them when you wish to see another color in your home.
